⚾ DIAMONDDEGEN | TUESDAY, AUGUST 4 | 15 GAME SLATE
═══ THE SHAPE OF THE NIGHT ═══
Two arms clear elite tonight: Logan Henderson and Tarik Skubal. Everything else is somewhere between fine and on fire. Five of fifteen games have a starter with almost no track record, and one of them has a 10.80 ERA.
Bullpens are the quiet story. Nobody is gassed. The slate pen average is 84.9 and not one club grades tired. When every pen is fresh, late innings stop deciding games and starters carry more than usual.
Thirteen of fifteen parks are running at or below their own baseline. And the money is stacked on overs in ten of fifteen games, with the number refusing to move in nine of them. That is August public money, not information. The one total the market actually paid for is Detroit and Seattle, where it dropped a full run.
═══ 🔥 THE THREE BEST SPOTS ═══
1. WSH VS PHI · 5:40 · PHI ML (-282)
Washington is running Carson Palmquist, a reliever with a 10.80 ERA whose last four outings went 2.0, 1.1, 1.1 and 1.2 innings. Luzardo holds lefties to a .403 OPS across 126 at bats and has gone 19, 21 and 15 outs in his last three. Philly's price already jumped from -221 to -282, so the edge is mostly eaten. The live angle is the total at 9.0, because Washington's pen has to cover seven innings. Risk: that pen is the freshest on the board at 95 with all nine arms up.
2. NYM VS CLE · 5:40 · CLE ML (-129)
José Ramírez is out with a hand issue, pulled from a lineup already at a .535 OPS over ten games, the worst mark of any team playing tonight. Cleveland scores 1.44 early and allows 0.94, which is the case. But the Mets allow 0.44 runs after the sixth, best on the board, and 77% of tickets sit on Cleveland while the price drifted from -137 to -129. Money is going the other way. Neither starter finishes six. Under 7.5 is the cleaner side of this game.
3. DET VS SEA · 8:40 · DET ML (+111)
Troy Melton carries a 1.75 ERA and holds righties to a .446 OPS. Detroit is the hottest offense on the board at .789 over ten with a +3.5 run differential, best on the slate, and they cover as a dog in five straight. T-Mobile is an 0.82 park, the most extreme pitcher's yard tonight. The total dropped 8.5 to 7.5 with 95% of the under money behind it. Detroit is 5-0 to the over in their last five, so the two reads fight. The clean version: Detroit side, Detroit first five over.
═══ ⚡ THE REST OF THE BOARD ═══
SF VS TEX · 7:05 · SF ML (+171)
Texas has lost six straight and is 0-4 as a favorite with a 0% cover rate. Their late innings are 2-9 with a -1.2 net, worst on the board. San Francisco is 8-2 against the spread over ten. Gore is oddly worse against lefties (.795 OPS) and SF starts five. Risk: Tidwell has never started a big league game.
MIN VS KC · 6:40 · UNDER 9.5
Kauffman is a 1.26 park but has averaged 7.0 over its last three against a full-season 11.33. Kansas City is 1-8 to the under over ten, the loudest trend on the board. Both pens grade 95. The catch: the over is plus money at +101 while the under costs -122. The book is paying you to take the other side, and Dobnak's 1.04 ERA sits on three starts behind a 4.8 K/9.
LAD VS CHC · 7:05 · CHC RL (+1.5, +100)
Skubal holds righties to a .554 OPS and Chicago starts six. But Assad allows .797 to lefties on a 6.2 K/9, and LA runs out five. Cubs are 8-2 ATS over ten and cover as a dog 83%. Dodgers have lost four straight. Wrigley wind is the swing factor here, check it before first pitch.
ATH VS CIN · 5:40 · UNDER 9.0
The A's have been outscored by 3.2 runs a game over ten, worst on the board, and are down 106 points of OPS. Cincinnati is striking out at 32.2% over ten, highest of any club tonight. Great American has played to 0.90 this year. Risk: A's middle innings leak 3.31 runs a game, which is where unders die.
SD VS ARI · 8:40 · ARI ML (-115)
Vásquez has recorded 14, 8 and 2 outs in his last three with one, zero and one strikeout. San Diego's pen is down to three available arms. E-Rod sits at 2.48. The problem: Arizona covers as a favorite 13% of the time, and San Diego's +1.4 late innings net is the best on the board.
TB VS COL · 7:40 · COL ML (+154)
Peralta is at 4.99 with a 1.48 WHIP and allows .811 to lefties across 297 at bats. Colorado starts four plus two switch. Tampa is 41-18 at home but 25-28 on the road, the widest split on the board, and they are away. Thin play though: Hughes has four career starts. Total is 11.0 and priced right.
PIT VS MIL · 6:40 · MIL ML (-141)
Henderson is the best arm tonight at 2.66 with an 0.91 WHIP and 11.0 K/9. Jones is legit too, holding righties to .445. Pittsburgh's closer is unavailable. Total dropped 8.0 to 7.0 and the under is plus money at +104. Milwaukee is 5-5 over ten and priced like they are not.
MIA VS ATL · 6:15 · ATL ML (-140)
Gusto's last four: 15, 10, 6 and 7 outs. He allows .842 to lefties and Atlanta starts six. Truist is the highest home run park on the board at 3.8 a game. Catch: Atlanta covers as a favorite 10% of the time and is 5-0 as a dog. Miami is 9-4 through five. Also 44% rain.
TOR VS HOU · 7:10 · TOR RL (+1.5)
Houston is running a bullpen game behind Wesneski. Toronto is surging, up 65 points of OPS with a 17.7% strikeout rate, lowest tonight. But Houston is 8-2 over ten with the best offense on the board, a fully rested seven arm pen, and Toronto scores 1.333 through five, the lowest first five figure on the slate.
CWS VS BOS · 6:10 · BOS ML (-129)
Best inversion on the board: Boston is 46% at home and 61% on the road, and they are home. Chicago is 62% at home and 45% away, and they are away. Boston has won five straight and leads the slate at +717 units on the season. Chicago covers as a dog 89%. Both pens grade 95. Fenway is 0.97.
STL VS NYY · 6:05 · NYY ML (-192)
St. Louis is down to four available arms with no closer. That is the whole case. Against it: the Yankees are at .589 over ten with a -0.8 recent differential, and -192 is a lot for a club scoring 3.8 a game. Both starters work near 100 pitches for five and a half.
LAA VS BAL · 5:35 · BAL ML (-141)
Grayson Rodriguez has a 7.98 ERA and allows a 1.054 OPS to lefties. Baltimore starts four. But the Orioles are at -2.5 runs a game over ten, allow 1.81 in the first three innings, and Camden has averaged 7.67 over its last three in a 0.95 park with a 7 mph wind blowing in. Two of the coldest offenses on the board. Lightest game on the slate.
═══ 📊 TRENDS THAT ACTUALLY CLEAR THE BAR ═══
KC 1-8 to the under over ten. Most emphatic number tonight.
TOR 2-8 under over ten, 0-5 over five. Have not allowed 6+ runs in five games.
NYM 2-7 under over ten, 3-11 over fifteen.
DET 5-0 to the OVER over five. The loudest counter-trend on the board.
DET first five: 11-3, 79% win rate, over 1.5 F5 runs in 12 of 15. Best F5 club tonight.

SF and CHC both 8-2 against the spread over ten.
ATL 5-0 as a dog with a 100% cover rate, but 10% cover as a favorite. Favored tonight.
TEX and STL both 0-4 as favorites, 0% cover. Texas is favored.
CWS 89% dog cover, KC 77%, ARI 71%. All three are dogs tonight.
Season ML units: BOS +717, HOU +578, ARI +467. Bottom: ATH -640, CLE -569, PHI -540.
